Marzenna Olszewska - From Head to Head Marek Kowalski - Entrance / Exit Opening: 7.09.2009 (Monday), 7 PM Exhibitions: 8.09. - 11.10.2009 We invite you to two exhibitions of artists who both use figural sculpture in their work. Handled in a different manner, but still a subject to the rigour of a specified project. In the case of Marek Kowalski, that has continued since as early as the beginning of the 90s, while the series that were recently started by Marzenna Olszewska, are to be continued in the future. "From Head to Head" consists of twenty portrait heads of people who are close and significant to the artist, who speak and reproduce texts that interrupt their concentrated silence. The heads, made of ceramic clay, are painted with colours that are supposed to match the personality of their prototypes. Marek Kowalski's "Entrance/Exit" consists of works not only rendered in the technique characteristic for the late Gothic style (lime wood, polychromy, gilding), but also employing its formal solutions in order to take up contemporary problems.
